Introducing New Printers - Multifunction Devices (MFD)

We are pleased to announce that the University has entered into an agreement with Ricoh and is moving forward with the implementation of new Printers (Multifunction Devices) and an improved print management system to replace our existing Canon services.

This upgrade, based on a detailed evaluation of current needs and sustainability goals, offers numerous benefits to both staff and students while aligning with our commitment to cost-effectiveness and environmental responsibility.

Key Benefits of the New Printers (MFD)

Standardised Features: All printers have colour capability and all A3 printers have an internal finisher as a minimum.
Cost-Effective: The new contract offers a significant reduction in operational costs.
Energy-Efficient: Modern Ricoh devices are designed to consume less energy, contributing to lower utility costs and a reduced environmental footprint.
Lower Carbon Emissions: Optimising the quantity of printers and introducing energy-efficient technology, we are taking meaningful steps toward reducing our carbon emissions.
Enhanced Reliability: Staff and students can expect improved reliability and performance from our printing and document management services.
Flexibility: The new agreement allows for scalability. Printers can be added or removed based on evolving needs, ensuring adaptability for the future.
User-Centric Approach: The new printers are designed to maintain convenient access to printing services across all campuses with strategically placed devices while reducing underutilised devices.

Implementation Timeline

Printing: There will be a new print queue called ‘Print_Argraffu’ which we will send to all staff and student devices as the default print queue on Monday 14th April.
Go Live (Staff): Please view our guide on how to set up the new print queue ready for use when prompted.
Canon Devices: Underutilised Canon devices will start to be collected from Monday 31st March. Whilst these will not be available for use after Monday 14th April, they will continue to be collected over the next couple of weeks, we hope to keep disruption to a minimum.
