Introduction to Library Services

Introduction to Library Services sessions are available in person in our libraries in Carmarthen and Swansea, and online for those not based near a UWTSD library. Introductions are available all year round to individual students, staff and groups. Further information on how to book is available below.

Where, When and How to Book

  • The Introduction to Library Services (in person and online) can be booked by students and staff at least three days in advance using the Introduction to Library Services booking form.
  • Each session will take around 30 minutes and will cover the basics of using our library spaces and services
  • In person sessions are a guided look around our spaces with a presentation delivered by library staff. We will talk you through how to use our resources and answer questions you may have about using the library. The maximum number of participants per in person session is 15.
  • Online sessions are available to distance learners, and students in Birmingham, London and Cardiff. These sessions are delivered as a presentation on Teams, giving you an overview of the services we offer, with particular emphasis on services relevant to students who don’t have access to a physical UWTSD library. The sessions are delivered by members of library staff who will be happy to answer any questions.
  • All new students should be booked onto an Introduction by their Programme Manager as part of their induction. However, students and staff are also welcome to book Introductions at any time during the academic year, whether they’re new to the university or looking for a refresher about the services the library has to offer.
  • In addition, new students will need to attend InfoSkills and Digital Skills sessions during their first term, please see the Programme Managers Timeline for further information.

Please contact us via the LibraryChat bubble on this page if you have any questions. We look forward to welcoming you to our libraries!
