Deposit your Data

Follow these steps to make your research data accessible:

1. Make sure that your data has been prepared for sharing.  Follow our guidance for help on:
   • Deciding which data to preserve
   • Redacting or anonymising datasets for preservation
   • Choosing a sustainable file format
   • Describing and documenting your data
2. Search the Re3data registry of research data repositories, or the catalogue available at FAIRsharing to locate an archive related to your discipline.
   If you are unable to locate an archive, proceed to step 4.
3. Once you have deposited your data in a suitable archive, send the URL of your dataset to openaccess@uwtsd.ac.uk for us to link this to any relevant research outputs in the University repository.  If you have not yet deposited any publications relating to your research, please include a link to your dataset when submitting your publication to the repository.
4. If you cannot submit your data to a suitable subject-based archive, log in to the UWTSD Research Repository.
   
   • Click New Dataset and follow the step by step instructions, completing as many fields as possible. Please make sure to specify an embargo period if required.
   • A member of the Open Access team will process your deposit and make your data available.

Physical data

This guidance applies to digital research data. If you produce valuable physical, hard copy data through your research you may wish to consider depositing this in a suitable archive.   The National Archives provides details of available archives in the UK.
